AI Green Screen Remover

Remove Green Screen from Video Online Free

Upload footage shot against green. BGRemove finds the subject with AI instead of asking you to pick a key color or tune tolerance sliders. It can work through folds, shadows, uneven light, and mild green spill, then give you a transparent result or let you add a different background.

A Green Screen Remover That Does Not Need a Perfect Screen

A clean screen still helps, but it should not have to be a studio-perfect wall. BGRemove uses AI subject detection rather than a single color threshold, so common shooting flaws do not force you into a long manual keying session.

AI Green Screen Remover vs. Chroma Key

An AI green screen remover identifies the subject across the frame. A chroma key remover removes pixels close to a selected color. AI avoids manual key-color setup when the screen has folds, shadows, or mild spill. Chroma key gives an editor more manual control when the screen is evenly lit.

Use BGRemove when you want the subject separated automatically. Use a full editor when you need to adjust the matte frame by frame.

Remove Video Background

Remove Green Background From Video in 3 Steps

  1. Step 1

    Upload your green screen footage

Choose the clip you want to cut out. Use clear footage where the subject stays visible, and start with a short representative section if the full video contains difficult motion.

  2. Step 2

    Let AI separate the subject

BGRemove follows the subject across the video and removes the green background without asking you to choose a key color or adjust chroma key sliders.

  3. Step 3

Download transparency or add a new scene

Review the edges, download a transparent WebM using VP9 with alpha, or use the background tool to place a color, blur, image, or video behind the subject and export an MP4.

How to Get a Cleaner Green Screen Cutout

AI can work with an imperfect screen, but clear source footage still makes the subject easier to separate. Check these four things before you upload.

Remove Green Screen for the Videos You Already Make

Start with the clip you already recorded. BGRemove removes the green backdrop automatically, then gives you a transparent file or a finished scene with a new background.

  • Gaming Clips and Streams

Separate a player, host, or reaction shot from the green screen, then place the transparent WebM over gameplay in an editor that supports VP9 alpha. Review fast hand movement, hair, and motion blur before publishing.

  • YouTube and TikTok Videos

Use one cutout with different backgrounds for tutorials, reactions, short videos, and channel updates. Add the final background in BGRemove for an MP4, or keep the transparent WebM when the edit still needs captions and layout work. See how creators use BGRemove.

  • Product Videos

Remove a green backdrop behind a product or presenter, then place the subject over a product page image, campaign scene, or brand color. Check glass, reflective surfaces, and transparent packaging carefully. See how ecommerce teams use BGRemove.

  • Lessons and School Projects

Replace a classroom green screen without learning key-color and tolerance controls. Use a slide, image, or recorded scene as the new background, then export an MP4 for a presentation or assignment.

What Is Green Screen Removal (Chroma Key)?

Green screen removal, also called chroma keying, separates a filmed subject from a colored backdrop so the background can become transparent or be replaced. A traditional chroma key remover looks for a selected shade of green. You choose the color, adjust tolerance and edge controls, then suppress green reflected onto skin, hair, or clothing. That works well in a controlled studio, but a wrinkled cloth, a hard shadow, or uneven lighting can create several shades of green and leave holes or halos.

BGRemove takes a different route. Its AI looks for the subject rather than relying on one background color. Green footage is still useful because it creates strong visual separation, but the screen does not have to be perfectly flat or evenly lit. The model can treat folds, shadows, and mild spill as background while keeping the person or product in view across the clip. That makes it a practical green screen remover for gaming clips, lessons, product demos, social videos, and school projects when you do not want to tune chroma key controls by hand.

AI does not make every shot perfect. Fast motion, heavy blur, flyaway hair, transparent objects, reflective surfaces, or green clothing close to the backdrop can still produce difficult edges. If you need frame-by-frame matte control for professional compositing, use a full editor. For a straightforward green screen video remover workflow, upload the clip, review the result, and either keep the transparent output or choose a new background.

Green Screen Remover FAQ

Can BGRemove handle a wrinkled or shadowy green screen?
Yes, AI subject detection can handle folds, uneven shades, shadows, and mild green spill because it is not removing one exact color. A cleaner recording can still produce a better edge. Review hair, motion blur, transparent objects, and reflective surfaces before you publish.
How is this different from a manual chroma key remover?
A manual chroma key removes a selected color and usually gives you controls for tolerance, edge softness, and spill suppression. BGRemove identifies the subject with AI instead, so you do not have to pick the green shade or tune those controls. Use a professional editor when you need frame-by-frame matte adjustments.
What video formats and limits are supported?
BGRemove accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V, and GIF. Each file can be up to 2 GB and 60 seconds long. The transparent output is WebM using VP9 with alpha.
Can I use the transparent video in CapCut or Premiere Pro?
BGRemove exports transparent WebM using VP9 with alpha. Whether transparency imports correctly depends on the editor, version, platform, and codec support. Check the current CapCut or Premiere Pro documentation before you start. If your editor does not accept WebM alpha, use BGRemove to add the final background and export an MP4. Renaming a file extension does not change its codec.
Can I remove green screen from video for free?
Yes. Each signed-in account can complete up to 3 successful background removals per 24-hour window. The allowance is shared with Remove Video Background. There are no paid plans.
Do I need to sign in?
Yes. You must sign in before processing a video.
Will the downloaded video have a watermark?
No. Downloads do not include a watermark.
Can I replace the green screen with my own background?
Yes. After the green background is removed, you can keep the result transparent or place a color, blur, image, or video behind the subject. The finished background-replaced video is exported as an MP4.
Can I use BGRemove with a blue screen or another solid-color background?
Yes. BGRemove identifies the subject instead of removing one selected key color, so the source background does not have to be green. It can process blue screens, other solid-color backdrops, and ordinary scenes. If the footage was not shot against green, use Remove Video Background for the general workflow.
Why does my transparent WebM still look green when I play it by itself?
That can be normal. Some local players and browser tabs do not composite the VP9 alpha channel, so transparent pixels may show the source green even though the alpha data is present. Test the file above a solid color, image, or video in an editor that supports VP9 WebM alpha. If the lower layer appears around the subject, transparency is working. Renaming .webm to .mp4 does not convert the codec or preserve transparency.
