This policy forms part of our Terms of Service. Breaching it is grounds for suspension or termination.
You must have the right to the footage
Do not upload video you do not own or have permission to process. This includes the rights of people appearing in it.
If you are processing footage of someone else, you need a lawful basis to do so. That is your responsibility, not ours, and it does not transfer to us because our service touched the file.
Prohibited content
You may not use BGRemove to process footage that:
Involves non-consensual or sexual exploitation
- Sexual content involving minors, in any form, real or synthetic. This is reported to authorities, not merely blocked.
- Intimate imagery of an identifiable person without their consent.
- Sexual content generally. This is not a moral position, it is a scope decision: we do not review such material and cannot moderate it responsibly.
Is built to deceive
- Footage of a real person being prepared for use in a fabricated statement or event, where the intent is to pass it off as genuine.
- Material intended to impersonate a person or organisation for fraud.
- Content designed to mislead about elections, public health, or emergencies.
Compositing a real person onto a new background is exactly what this tool does, and that is fine. The line is intent to deceive about what actually happened.
Is unlawful or harmful
- Content that promotes or facilitates violence, terrorism, or serious criminal activity.
- Content that harasses, threatens or targets an individual.
- Content that infringes copyright, trademark or other rights.
- Anything otherwise illegal in your own jurisdiction.
Prohibited conduct
- Sharing an account to work around the 24-hour usage limits, or creating multiple free accounts for the same purpose.
- Reselling access to the service without a written agreement with us.
- Automated access to the service or scraping the interface without written authorization.
- Attempting to disrupt, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service or its infrastructure.
- Uploading files intended to exploit the processing pipeline rather than to be processed.
How this is enforced
We do not systematically review your footage. Detection is driven by automated safety checks on submission, reports we receive, and investigation of anomalous usage.
Where we find a breach:
- Ambiguous or apparently accidental: we contact you first and ask.
- Clear breach: the account is suspended and the content removed.
- Child sexual abuse material: the account is terminated, content is preserved as required, and the matter is reported to the relevant authorities. There is no appeal.
Termination for a serious breach immediately ends access to the service and any remaining allowance.
Reporting a violation
If you believe content processed here breaches this policy, or if footage of you has been processed without your consent, write to legal@bgremove.video.
Include enough detail to identify the content. Reports about non-consensual intimate imagery are prioritised and actioned the same day.
Copyright complaints
Send infringement notices to legal@bgremove.video with:
- Identification of the work
- Identification of the material you say infringes it
- Your contact details
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is unauthorised
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are authorised to act
We act on valid notices and will pass a counter-notice back to you if the user files one.
Changes
We may update this policy as new misuse patterns appear. Material changes are notified as described in the Terms.
