What we collect
From your Google account
When you sign in we receive, from Google, only:
- Your email address
- Your display name
- Your profile picture URL
- A stable Google account identifier
We do not receive your password, your contacts, your Drive, or anything else. We request the minimum scope Google offers for sign-in.
The video you upload
Your source footage and the output we generate from it. This may contain images of identifiable people, which makes it personal data, and in some jurisdictions biometric data.
Legal basis: performance of our contract with you. Where footage contains other people, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to process their images.
Usage records
- One record per processing job: filename, duration, format, resolution, status, timestamps
- Your current allowance and how much of it you have used
No card details are collected or stored, because BGRemove does not currently sell anything.
Technical logs
IP address, user agent and request timestamps, retained for 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the service secure.
What we do not do
- We do not use your footage to train machine learning models
- We do not permit our processing provider to train on your footage
- We do not sell personal data
- We do not run advertising trackers, and there is no advertising pixel on this site
- We do not build profiles of you for marketing
Who else processes your data
BGRemove relies on a small number of external providers to run:
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| AI processing | Removing the background from the video you upload |
| Hosting and storage | Running the service and holding your files for their retention window |
| Authentication | Signing you in with Google, so we never handle a password |
Providers are used only to deliver the service and are not permitted to use your footage for their own purposes. Some processing takes place outside the EEA.
If you want to know which providers are currently used, ask at support@bgremove.video and we will tell you.
How long we keep things
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Uploaded footage and generated transparent output | 24 hours |
| Job metadata (no footage) | Life of the account |
| Account record | Until you delete it |
| Technical logs | 30 days |
| Invoices and tax records | 10 years, as required by law |
Deleting a file from your library deletes it from storage immediately, not on a schedule.
Your rights
Under GDPR and comparable laws you may request:
- Access to the personal data we hold about you
- Correction of anything inaccurate
- Deletion of your account and data
- A copy of your data in a portable format
- Restriction or objection to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdrawal of consent where consent is the basis
Write to legal@bgremove.video. We respond within 30 days and there is no charge.
You can delete your entire account yourself from the account page. That removes your profile, all stored footage and all output. Job metadata and invoices are retained only where law requires.
You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.
Cookies
We set one cookie: an HttpOnly session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary and carries no analytics.
There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. Details are in the Cookie Policy.
Children
The service is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and it will be removed.
Security
- All traffic over TLS
- Footage stored encrypted at rest
- Access to production data restricted to the operators who need it
- Session cookies are HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authority within 72 hours of becoming aware.
